Anti-everything

One of the more vocal anti-everything groups in the GTA is CAIR, run by an ex-councilor squatting on the island.  He wants to completely shut down the island airport, and he’ll spread lies to meet his goals.  He’s also recruited the resident socialist candidate to help him.

If they awarded a prize for fiction in advertising, then David Miller, the socialist candidate for mayor, and his sandal-clad friends in the Community AIR protest group would get the gold for their shrill campaign to shut down the Toronto island airport.

Mugabenomics

More interesting stuff from LGF’s Zulubaby:Mugabenomics and how they helped destroy the breadbasket of South Africa.

NOTHING typifies Harare’s way of doing things more than the hilarious interview that talk show radio 702 recently had with one of President Robert Mugabe’s most trusted lieutenants, which the station occasionally replays to my utter glee.

Get Ready…

Seems like there may be some shooting going on in the morass that is Zimbabwe next week.

The Zimbabwe Defence Forces, which include the army, air force and police, gave warning that the military “will not be an idle observer” during the planned mass action.

Real Leader Watch

Canada once had a real leader: Brian Mulroney.

Like Bush, Mulroney stood for things, not against things.  He wasn’t governed by polls the same way Crouton is.  He can speak both official languages.  Canada didn’t realize how lucky they had it with him.  Maybe they do now.

“For a generation raised on the bizarre proposition that leadership should be equated with popularity, how goofy can you be?” Mulroney told a packed hall of more than 2,000 cheering delegates at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

“When leadership is often the absolute antithesis of popularity, measured and published weekly, this can be a daunting challenge.

“In fact, political capital is not supposed to be hoarded. Rather it must be spent on great causes for one’s country.”

Buffoon

It hard to believe, but Mulroney is acting more like the official opposition.

Former Conservative prime minister Brian Mulroney is keeping up his attack on Jean Chr?tien’s government.

BM for PM!  Again!

Our PM, the buffoon: (what the Red Star above didn’t print)

Former prime minister Brian Mulroney launched a rare and blistering attack on Prime Minister Jean Chretien yesterday, saying he has been behaving like a “buffoon” on the international stage, and is now regarded by the United States administration as “a guy who long ago lost his fastball.”

Quit already

Our PM’s legacy is starting to become clear:

Our petulant child

More fallout from our PMs idiotic rants againt GWB.

Opposition critics called the Prime Minister’s criticisms ill-advised and “just plain dumb,” coming at a time when Canada-U.S. relations are strained.

“He should start acting like a Prime Minister and stop acting like a petulant child,” said Joe Clark, the Tory leader and former prime minister.

Teach your children well

You can teach your children about sex.

Like it or not, we’re teaching our children from the moment they come into the world. They watch us like hawks. As they see us obey laws, treat others with respect and remain faithful to our spouse, they learn to do those things, too.

Remember – your children are watching you.

Not so silent

Buchanan writes that the silent majority (at least in America) is not so silent anymore.

“They’re still all riled up,” writes Harper. Indeed, America is “all riled up,” and something is going on out there. Call it the radicalization of Middle America.

Show your face

I am sure in Canada the PC crowd that rule us would allow full veils.  Dog Snot Diaries has a great post on the woman in Florida who is raising a stink on this issue.

If you want to get a license, show your ugly mug. If your “interpretation” of your religion and adhering to it’s requirements is that important to you, then deal with it. No driving, cashing checks, or flying for you. Get f*cking used to it. Walk, bitch.

Removing Mugabe

Maybe Canada’s next PM will help get rid of Mugabe.  Why are the Aussies the only clear thinking commonwealth country outside of the UK?

Thanks to Mr. Mugabe’s demagogic campaign to wipe out Zimbabwe’s white farming class, the country—once Africa’s breadbasket—cannot feed itself. Displaced whites say Zimbabwe’s annual corn production has fallen 80%.

Shuddup already!

Can Crouton please shut up already?  His criticism of Bush knows no bounds.  He is also harming this country more than he can ever know.

And the prime minister laid part of the blame for the troubled U.S. economy on Mr. Bush’s doorstep for running up big deficits with massive tax cuts and huge military spending.

On his retirement plans:

“Next year, I might start to write about the press. I think that the paper that signs me will sell a hell of a lot of papers.”

Listening to him speak in both official languages, I can’t wait to read his writing…

Spray with abandon

Enjoy your lawn – even after spraying.  This expert says it is perfectly safe.

Len Ritter of the University of Guelph is one of the foremost pesticide scientists in Canada. He’s spent more than 25 years in the field and has credentials as long as your arm. “If you look hard enough, you can find reports that raise concerns about anything,” he told me. “But you have to look at the totality of the evidence. And the fact is that, by the most broadly based interpretation of the science, these lawn-care chemicals do not pose a threat.”

Please save us from the enviro-Nazis.

Another road gone…

There goes another good road, turning into an expensive bike lane.

But Councillor Brian Ashton, the only one who voted against it, is concerned about the congestion that he foresees when half the road capacity is turned over to cyclists.

“This is a major corridor for people all the way from Durham,” Ashton (Ward 36, Scarborough Southwest) said.

At least Ashton voted against it…which surprises me.

Having a bad day?

Think you’re having a bad day?  Chances are this guy is worse off than you.

The ice on which he has pitched his tent is gradually pulling him away from the Pole. He is completely cut off from the outside world now, save for a radio beacon.
