Couldn’t be…

There are no terrorists in Canada, at least according to JC.  Oh ya? via LGF

The FBI has reissued a ?Be On The Lookout? warning for this man, ?extremely dangerous? suspected terrorist Abderraouf Jdey?who lived in Montreal for several years even though there are no terrorists in Canada.

Burn in Hell

Glad to see that at least the Catholic Church can take a strong stance and pass it on to its cafeteria-catholic members who happen to be in the Liberal caucus.

Roman Catholic Bishop Fred Henry of Calgary warned that Mr. Chr?tien could be doomed to burn in hell if he allows same-sex legislation to become legal in Canada.

There stance seems pretty clear to me.

Bow your head

All hail - the King’s founder has died.

Some say he is greater than Elvis for discovering him - by today’s standards it doesn’t seem that he made much money selling the contract.

By 1956, when Phillips sold Presley’s contract to RCA for $35,000, the rock ‘n’ roll craze had become a cultural phenomenon and a multimillion-dollar industry.

The icons seem to be slipping away this week.

Who killed California?

Buchanan on how illegal immigration has helped kill California.

With Gov. Gray Davis facing recall, a budget $38 billion in deficit, and a bond rating dropped three notches by Standard & Poor’s to near junk-bond status, the lowest of all 50 states, the Golden State is no more.

Personally, I believe China is killing North America, softly, slowly.

Check out your Wal-Mart labels.

What it’s about

WOC has a link to a 9/11 victim who went over to Iraq to support the troops.

When I told friends about my pilgrimage to Iraq to thank the US troops, reaction was under whelming at best. Some were blunt. “Why are YOU going there?” They could not understand why it was important for me, a 9/11, widow to express my support for the men and women stationed today in the Gulf.

Hatebots

A powerful entry at LGF illustrating a major factor in the Pali problem: the indoctrination of very small children into the cycle of violence.

This ongoing atrocity, perhaps more than any other single factor, is what has caused me to lose all sympathy for the Palestinian ?cause??the way they gleefully, willingly, boastfully turn their own children into mindless hatebots.

Religion of Peace Watch

LGF has yet another entry showing the evil Saudi empire at its worst.

In Saudi Arabia, torturing your Asian maid to death with boiling water and then conspiring to conceal the murder will get you two years in jail. (Hat tip: Allen E.)

..

But openly practicing Christianity will get you decapitated.

…and to think the France will be a Muslim country in 30 years.  Yikes!

Speak up!

Nice to see the mutes in the Liberal caucus are finally squeaking their opposition to gay marriages.  Mind you, he’s only “troubled” by the legislation.

A junior Liberal minister from Alberta has become the first in the federal cabinet to speak out against same-sex marriage, as opposition to the divisive issue mounts within caucus ranks.

Don’t use any strong language, Dave - you may offend someone.  Wimp.

America the Beautiful

Howard was singing America The Beautiful this morning.  Some think it should have been the national anthem, much like The Maple Leaf Forever should have been our national anthem.

O beautiful for spacious skies,

For amber waves of grain,

For purple mountain majesties

Above the fruited plain!

America! America!

God shed his grace on thee

And crown thy good with brotherhood

From sea to shining sea!

Elvis and me

I just recently purchased Elvis: The Way It Is ($US orders) on DVD.  I am telling you all this because I huge Elvis fan.  I am trying to find other good Elvis concert DVDs.  Any of you have any recommendations?

This DVD has great sound and images - it’s hard to believe it’s 33 years old.  Elvis looks great, and his audience is completely intoxicated with his person.  It is amazing watching grown women throw themselves onto his alter like lambs - all for a kiss from the King.

There is no-one like him, and no-one will ever be like him.  I only mention this as the 60 year old Jagger comes to Toronto - Elvis would be 68 if he were alive today.  Long live the King!

Sars-Stock

Guess I’ll have to eat my previous words about this being a bust.  I should probably eat some humble pie and just be excited like everyone else.

It’s showtime. The biggest concert in Canadian history is set to rock - and roll - today at Downsview park, and boy, are we up for it.

Thumbs up, that is. With hours to go before the Rolling Stones and the rest of the star-studded “SARS-Stock” lineup take the stage, we offer our thumbs-up salute to all those who’ve made - and will make - this an event for the ages. Here goes:

Good luck to all, even though this whole thing was organized by the Liberal Government.

Survival Pack

Suburbanblight links to an article that describes what the US found with Saddam’s kids when they took them out.

Item 1) $400,000 in U.S. currency

Item 2) 30 million Iraqi dinars, or about $21,400

Item 3) Viagra

Regulate me

Here’s another example of the Government doing too much for too little gain.

Citing the death toll caused by young, “thrill-seeking” joyriders, Transport Canada has introduced a regulation requiring that all new cars include anti-theft immobilization devices within two years.

They may as well regulate kids to stay in after dark.

For a few joyriders, everyone is going to have to pay more for their new car - millions of dollars, perhaps tens of millions if the government imposes their will on already designed vehicles.

FCS

The Federal Commonwealth Society is an interesting alternative for the new world order.  I’m not sure I understand it enough to endorse it, but it’s worth a longer look for Canadians who aren’t happy with the way this country is going.

1. Given the shared history of the members of the Commonwealth, we wish to work for a closer union between its members so as to enhance the mutual benefits of membership.

2. To achieve a closer union, we wish to establish a federal body of some or all of the Commonwealth members.

3. We wish for that body to be responsible for establishing a common trade policy, foreign policy, and defence policy for the members of the federation.
