Breeding bombs

Joe over at WOC has a doomsday post saying the simple laws of mathematics state that we will never be able to keep the nuclear genie in the bottle.

Yet the truth stares us in the face, and will not go away: Fibonacci’s sequence lives on today in the nightmare form of nuclear proliferation, and all current indications point to the conclusion that nothing of consequence will be done to halt the relentless addition of its sums.

Nice depressing post for a Monday.

No Crosses

If this is happening in Italy, home of the Catholic church – and the judgement sticks – we can only imagine how long it will take to unravel the whole Western world.

A judge’s decision over the weekend to order the removal of a crucifix from the wall of a single classroom has set off a storm of debate and recrimination in Italy.

Mario Montanaro ruled that school officials in Ofena, near the central mountain town of L’Aquila, must take down the cross from a classroom used by children of Muslim activist Adel Smith.

The Christian heritage that this country was built on is slowly being unraveled.

Child Abuse Shocker

My question in reading horror stories like this one is always the same: why didn’t anyone else say something?

The young man, who was adopted in 1995, measured 4 feet and weighed 45 pounds when he was discovered. He is now in the hospital receiving specialized care for apparent heart irregularities.

Unless these children were caged in (which is often the case), why didn’t a teacher or a neighbor say something upon seeing a stick person walking around?

Property Rights 101

Smug says Canadians aren’t even taught property rights in school, which probably would explain why there isn’t a big uproar over Dalt’s willingness to supercede the rights of those who purchased properties on the Oak Ridges Morraine.

We aren’t taught the importance of property rights in school, and it’s pretty rare to hear a positive thing about it in the news, or about business in general. The voters of Ontario, like the usual lost Canadian souls, have no idea about such things and therefore neither does McGuinty.

The Liberal government seems to be marching to the Green Party’s enviroterrorist drumbeats on this one.

Then again, Canadians know full well the Liberals are notorious deal destroyers (GST, helicopters, Pearson contract, free trade…).  Yet they keep voting for them.

Baby slam

I know I wasn’t there to aquit this guy, but how anyone can get no punishment for throwing their baby down on the ground is beyond me.

Schadrac, who was born prematurely and died on Jan. 14, 2001 at nine months of age, succumbed to a brain and skull injury from likely more than one blow to his head.

Dropping one’s baby by accident can’t be a crime – but even that part of this story seems hard to believe.  Debbye doesn’t have time for this judgement either.

Watch the liberal dick

Mark has a great theory on why Crouton will not stand up to terrorists and anti-Semites.

My own theory is that, just as Canada was the only western nation afflicted by SARS, so too it may be the only western nation afflicted by Sudanese Vanishing Penis Syndrome.

Will somebody please pay Mark to write for a Canadian newspaper?  This is getting ridiculous.

It’s so ridiculous, I have started my own petition – so spread the word and sign it!  I think the obvious paper to have him write for is the Sun Group of papers.

Harris numbers

The Star crunched some of a Harris Conservative government’s numbers today.

That leaves a balance of $31 billion for all other government spending, which is roughly 50 per cent less than Ottawa will spend this year.

Goodbye environment. Goodbye aboriginals. Goodbye foreign aid. And you have a Harris federal government.

Hmmm.  Now that they put it that way, I really want to see him run.

Camp Jihad

Dear Mom:

Having a great time learning how to blow up the infidels.  Will write often, see you soon,

Your radical son.

Seems some of our less esteemed immigrants go away to terror camps over the summer.

“In Canada, over 17% of the population is foreign born, making Canada more vulnerable to these tendencies than are other developed nations,” says the April 30, 2003, report, released under the Access to Information Act. “By contrast, only 9% of the U.S. population is foreign born.”

Immigration is the apparent life blood of the country (since our locals aren’t breeding anymore) – so we better be a lot more careful who we let in.

Ban El-Al

I don’t really like Mr. Collenette, mostly because he is a liberal with some silly ideas.  His latest silly floater was to ban El-Al from Canada, in light of its security threat the other day.

“There are many other carriers that fly into Toronto and if El Al could be a target so could any other carrier, so could any other plane. Perhaps this will be the impetus for Mr. Collenette and the Ministry of Transportation to see what they can do to tighten up the security measures at the airport.”

Tightening up security in other ways would be much more productive than to remove a vital air link to the many passengers who travel from Toronto to Israel.  Banning the flights would be capitulating to the terrorists.

Speaking of the minister, looks like he may have to give up on his high speed train set idea.

Piling on

The crown isn’t giving up on Stephen Williams – laying another 94 charges against him.

The sheer number of charges is “the height of ridiculousness,” Greenspan said; nearly a third of them are based on a book police have investigated repeatedly since it was released in 1998.

“It suggests to me a certain attitude of mind towards Williams,” he said. “In football, they call it piling on. In law, they call it an abuse of power and I think this is a terrible abuse of power.”

Buy his book, Karla: Pact with the Devil ($US orders), and show your support.

Evolutionary cul-de-sacs

It appears that fewer (North) American women than ever are having children.

More than two out of five women of childbearing years had no children in June 2002, a steady increase over the last seven years and a significant jump since 1976 when roughly a third of women did not have children.

Hopefully the pendulum will swing back the other way.  Could it be that women/men today are more self-focussed and selfish than ever before?

This book ($US orders) discusses the tradeoffs professional women have to endure in foregoing child rearing for careers.  I think women should have a choice.  Government needs to help facilitate the choice and allow traditional families the tax breaks they used to have so only one income is required to have a decent standard of living.

Annoying Brit

Is anyone else as annoyed by anchormouth Richard Quest?  He’s one of those obnoxious commentators – yet he’s hard not to watch.  I guess we’ll have to categorize him under train wreck television.

France’s rapid descent

A disturbing article on France and its massive, segregrated immigrant population.

Indisputably, however, France has handled the resultant situation in the worst possible way. Unless it assimilates these millions successfully, its future will be grim.

Can this happen in Canada?  I hope not – but Europe is becoming a powderkeg that the whole world may have to worry about – again.

Socially liberal

As much of a supporter as I was of the Harris “revolution”, as the years go by I am less and less a fan of his non-family-friendly activities.

Mr. Harris is reportedly “infatuated” with Ms. Maguire. The couple regularly fly away for “weekend getaways,” according to one friend quoted in the report.

Mr. Harris is separated from his second wife, Janet. They first separated in 1999 and then briefly reconciled two years later.

His ex-wife is “engaged to be married” to Mr. Harris, says Mr. Maguire in a sworn affidavit filed in court in April that includes a claim of “abandonment of the children in favour of her new partner.”

His latest alleged relationship produces a total of 5 kids who I am sure now have a warped view of the family unit.

If Harris wins the Conservative Party leadership, he’ll have a hard time swaying the social conservatives of the party.
