Here kitty kitty

Luckily it ended up being just another day at the zoo.

A 300-pound Siberian tiger was mistakenly allowed to leave its pen at the Toronto Zoo yesterday, exposing it to visitors on one of the busiest days of the year.

Even tech jobs leaving

Just when you thought only widget makers were setting up in China, there goes the tech jobs.

U.S. corporations are picking up the pace in shifting well-paid technology jobs to India, China and other low-cost centers, but they are keeping quiet for fear of a backlash, industry professionals said.

It’s easy to see how this helps corporations, it’s hard to see how it helps local employment.

Share the Warmth

Joe at WOC has an update to his link on how to support the troops in the Middle East – Canadians too.

The Canadians are currently based in Kabul, Afghanistan, with a contingent of around 1,700 plus 200 elsewhere. They are part of the ISAF multinational force, and are easily distinguished by their green camouflage uniforms. Here is the Operation Athena Home Page.

Green and Sunny

This is my idea of Xmas: green, sunny, and above freezing.

I never did understand why everyone is so big on snow for Xmas, especially when they have to get around town visiting relatives.

Looks like it will be a good month for the gas bill.  Hope everyone in your family got what they wanted.

Great Light Show

Every now and then, one of the neighbors goes nuts with the Xmas light display.

The lights at 4 Rosea Court are designed, installed, and funded by the Lindsay?s.  Myself (Martin) and my brother (Andrew) have made this possible with a lot of time and dedication put toward the display.  Of course, our girlfriends help when possible and our parents, who own the house, pay the electric bill and support our crazy ideas.

Merry Xmas all – and Saddam!

Merry Xmas to all http://www.rightonblog.com readers!  I’ll post tomorrow I’m sure as the (extended) family drives me crazy.

Trickle Down Destabilization

Steyn with a piece on those who continue to deny that America is winning the war on terror.

Colonel Gaddafi is merely the latest example of what one might call trickle-down destabilization. As I wrote in early May, “You don’t invade Iraq in order to invade everywhere else, you invade Iraq so you don’t have to invade everywhere else.”

Terrier Problems

Even the Royal family needs to learn to muzzle dangerous dogs.

THE Queen was last night heartbroken over the death of her beloved corgi Pharos — savaged by Princess Anne’s danger dog Dottie.

More “Life” Sentencing

I just watched the FLQ crisis on the History channel, and was reminded that the terrorists who killed Pierre Laporte got around 10 years for his murder.

Thirty years later, it appears killing someone still means nothing.  Eleven years (effectively) for what appears to have been first degree murder?  Disgusting.

A Richmond Hill man was sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for 11 years yesterday for the 1999 murder of his ex-girlfriend. Peter Morrissey, 30, shot Melissa Pajkowski, 21, in the head with a .22-calibre handgun as she sat in the passenger seat of a Jeep being followed by police.

How the west (was) won

A very interesting analysis of how Western Canada may have the last laugh when it comes to ruling the party of the right, the Conservative Party of Canada.

Were the last 15 years of division on Canada’s political right necessary?

It’s hard to remember it all started with the CF18 fighter contract.
