He is the symbol of freedom

This must be killing the Euroweenies and nay-sayers.

The man replacing the mayor of Baghdad — who was assassinated for his pro-American loyalties — says he is not worried about his ties to Washington.

In fact, he’d like to erect a monument to honor President Bush in the middle of the city.

Windy propaganda

Wind generation propaganda:

That giant three-bladed propeller at the Canadian National Exhibition hasn’t quite gone from White Elephant to Cash Cow with the disbursement of $32,000 in dividends to investors, but it’s a welcome breath of fresh air for alternative energy proponents.

… and wind power facts.

They suggest that if Germany presses ahead with its plan to double the number of wind turbines, annual energy costs for consumers will rise from €1.4 billion to €5.4 billion

Mark on voter turnout

Mark says voter turnout is going to be just fine, despite the made for TV bombs of the day.

Turnout in the Kurdish north and Shia south will be higher than in the last American, British or Canadian elections. Legitimate enough for ya?

Pity the children, again

Like you needed another day care horror story to convince you that kennels are for dogs, and not for kids.

Chantel Patterson is demanding answers after her six-month-old son was left alone for about three hours in a closed day care Thursday night.

Dollars to donuts this woman won’t give raising her kid herself a second thought, even after this insane story.

Where Have All the Children Gone?

More on the de-population of Europe.

Today, children no longer represent investments; instead, they have become pets - objects of luxury consumption. However, the pet market segment is very competitive.

Imagine the freedom

…of being able to defend your property and life.

ATLANTA, Georgia (AP)—When two men walked into a popular country store outside Atlanta, announced a holdup and fired a shot, owners Bobby Doster and Gloria Turner never hesitated. The pair pulled out their own pistols and opened fire.

In Canada, we can only imagine.

Homelessness problem

A comprehensive post on the problem in the US - it appears they have the same problem as we do in Toronto.

JEFF JARVIS ON THE HOMELESS:

And the real issue isn’t homelessness. It’s insanity. The laws in this country make it impossible to commit and help even the obviously and often the dangerously insane.

I say that One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest is as much at fault as any politician, for it made the institution frightening and the people who run it bad guys.

Damn it’s cold

Global warming has yet to take effect in Toronto, if the last two weeks are any indication.

I’d marry her

I married a woman just like this. I love the traditional type - it’s too bad they are so undervalued by today’s left-lib media.

I know that I’ll never be able to drop my child off each day for someone else to raise.

I know that a stranger will not be the one to hear my child’s first words or watch as my child takes his first steps.

I know that a stranger will not be the one to put a Band-Aid on my baby’s scraped knee, and I certainly know that a stranger will not kiss it better.

Most importantly, my child will know this, too.

After all, climbing the corporate ladder to become CEO or president pales in comparison with earning the treasured title of Mommy.

Interim chief stupid

More nonense: Why couldn’t Jules stay on until a replacement is was named?

MIKE BOYD is to be the next chief of the Toronto Police. But Boyd, who will take over from Julian Fantino on March 1,

I heard they want to save money by getting cops out of cars and into bikes.  Great idea in winter weather, left wing-nuts.  We could call them Copsickles.

Sad state

Is Martin telling us that all he cares about and the country cares about is gay marriage? How can so few people control the government’s agenda, with such a lame issue?

Prime Minister Paul Martin threatened yesterday to take the country to the polls in his fight to defend same-sex marriage—a strike at Stephen Harper that the Conservative Leader called an attempt to cow Liberal MPs into voting with the government.

There must be a million other issues that Canadians care about more than that.  I know I am against it, and most others could care less, so why can’t we drop it and ignore the screaming left?

Begin the begat

The real crisis facing the modern world is the depopulation of the first world - as Steyn writes so beautifully.

But the state - at least in its modern European welfare incarnation - needs children as least as much as those old-time Jews did. And the problem with the European state is that, like Elisabeth, it’s barren. Collectively barren, I hasten to add. Individually, it’s made up of millions of fertile women, who voluntarily opt for no children at all or one designer kid at 39.

The war in 100 years will be between Muslims and either China and/or India.

Get rid of her

I like our royal traditions, but it really is time to get rid of her.

Turns out, Clarkson’s commitment was mainly to her own leisure.
