How can this happen?

As long as there are trusting and (stupid) parents out there, I suppose children will always be at risk.

Police in Western Canada are frantically searching Monday for two missing boys and for a 35-year-old B.C. man who had become notorious in Ontario for abducting and molesting children.

I can only imagine what the parents are going through.

Professionalization of war is ghettoization of war

Mark explains, like no one else can, why the most powerful military in history hasn’t “won” yet in Iraq.

“What if liberal democracies have now evolved to a point where they can no longer wage war effectively because they have achieved a level of humanitarian concern for others that dwarfs any really cold-eyed pursuit of their own national interests?”

No mother cops

I’ll reiterate my past sexist statements: mothers should not be soldiers or cops.

Here’s another reason why.

The Iran virus

Mark explains what exactly is at work in the Middle East Powderkeg.

Why? Because in both cases these territories are now in effect Iran’s land borders with the Zionist Entity. They’re “occupied territories” but it’s not the Jews doing the occupying. So you’ve got a choice between talking with proxies or going to the source: Tehran

It’s clear that the shot to end the latest war needs to be aimed at Tehran.  Will we see this shot soon?

Electric dreams

A fascinating article on the inventor of modern electricity, Tesla, and the Niagara connection.

Nothing like a power failure to remind us the electricity is almost as important as water to a modern society.

Even the poor people are fat

A great article on what’s so great about America.  Happy Birthday, America.

But it had the opposite effect. Ordinary people across the Soviet Union saw that the poorest Americans had television sets and cars. They arrived at the same conclusion that I witnessed in a friend of mine from Bombay who has been trying unsuccessfully to move to the United States for nearly a decade. I asked him, “Why are you so eager to come to America?” He replied, “Because I really want to live in a country where the poor people are fat.”

There goes the family

Tossing aside the central reason for marriage, procreation, will have a negative impact on the future.

Sugrue argues that reforms to Canadian marriage policy are concerned more with the advancement of adults’ emotional needs than the needs of children.

Children today are becoming more accessories than anything else in this commodity driven world.
