Tasermania

Put me in the camp that says there should be a moratorium on taser use.  Here’s an article that will make you think twice.

The latest taser incident to be captured on film again highlights how fast our society is sleepwalking into a brutal police state

So do you think that in by-gone days before the taser the cops simply tried to sweet talk people into stopping whatever they were doing?

There was a reason the cops carried those big flashlights and that those flashlights had to be replaced on a regular basis.

The taser is a tool that didn’t live up to its billing as a non-lethal means of disabling suspects.  It seems to be ineffective – incidents on the news about people being tasered mulpitple times to little or no effect – or being too effective as in the case in Vancouver airport.

But I wouldn’t be sounding an alarm about the police state creeping in.  In the case at the airport and most other cases involving tasers, the matter would probably have been dealt with by a couple of high hard ones with a baton.
