This last drunk missed me by minutes…
All southbound lanes of the Don Valley Parkway have reopened at Don Mills Rd. following an early morning accident.
TheStar.com | GTA | DVP re-opens after three-car collision.
While driving around this crash, I noticed that when I re-boarded the
DVP at the Bayview-Bloor on ramp, that even a sober driver could be confused with the lane configuration to board the northbound highway. In the absence of other cars leading the way, one could conceivably keep to the left, which is north. This of course would lead you to the southbound lanes, and cause a crash as the above article tells. There is a large DO NOT ENTER sign, but in the darkness, it could be missed. The solution is to put a large overhead sign up, with appropriate flashing lights, clearly marking the appropriate lanes. This way, even a drunk driver would probably stay in the proper lane.
Update: Education for the Driving MASSES says he got on at Dundas. On retrospect, there is no ramp at Dundas for southbound access, so it must have been the confusing Bayview Bloor ramp.
Is this bailout an end run for the rich? Michael Moore thinks so.
Let me cut to the chase. The biggest robbery in the history of this country is taking place as you read this.

The Big Guy Michael Moore has released his new movie, SlackerUprising. Again, I like the guy, although I don’t agree with a lot of his solutions.
His website still shows the trailer, even though he says it’s available there. It’s easier to grab it as a torrent.

Future president John McCain is well spoken, humble, and sincere. He also served his country like no other in recent memory.
This 60 Minutes interview has made him a sure vote for me. How he doesn’t win after this is beyond me.

If you’re wondering about the upcoming Canadian election and what is happening with the Liberals, then Warren Kinsella’s CCC says it all. For all I didn’t like about Chretien’s policies, I still respect the man and respect Kinsella’s unwavering loyalty.
In the meantime, the Conservatives will have had the country for nearly a decade. Does that concern me, as a Chrétien Liberal? Yes, it does. Of course it does.

I have been defrauded before, so I suppose I should be more careful. Must have a weak gene, but I am glad my bullshit detector went off early enough to stop this latest one from going much further: Here`s the email exchange, where I was trying to sell an old kitchen table that`s actually quite nice. Bottom line, if you`re trying to sell something: don`t sell anything unless the cash (hopefully not funny money) is in your hands. How this dope expected me to fall for his gag of wiring money via the dreaded Western Union is beyond me. Also, it appears Google isn`t interested in helping either.

To: “Tim G.” <tim@tpg1.com>Hello,
I would love to make an instant purchase, so please do withdraw the advert from Craigslist, I don’t mind adding an extra $50 for you to do that so that I can be rest assured that the item is in hand. I would also like you to know that I will be paying via certified bank cheque due to the distance and it will be over night payment. I will be going for a conference and as such would not be able to come ove to your place. You don’t need to bother yourself with the shipment. Ok? My Mover will handle that .I need the following information to cut you a check; your name, Address and Phone number.Regards,
Richard———-

To: “Tim G.” <tim@tpg1.com>Hello,
How has your day been like? I am glad to inform you that the check for the payment has been drwan overnighted to you by my secretary, however their was an error which i beleive we should be able to handle with care to avoid delay in the payment. A check for $4,500.50 was overnighted to you instead of the actual amount of $1055 for the bought item.
Onece the check is delivered to you, have it cashed, deduct the cost of the bought item and an extra $50 for your run around expenses. The differences should be wired to my mover via Western Union money transfer. i will send you my mover’s information to have the funds wired to. Do let me know once the check is delivered to you.Warmest Regards,
Daryl———-

Just dumped Bell(er) … after they sent me a retroactive bill with increased charges on call this and call that, I called to complain. After talking with a the CSR over in Manila, I thought enough was enough.
So when recommending a friend to TekSavvy for internet, I noticed they do home phone. There is apparently nothing for me to do except switch and save. So Bell will be sent packing.
It will be nice to deal with Canadians in Chatham when I have an issue, too.

Hurricane Ike doesn’t seem to have been as bad as he could have been. There are lots of great pics out there now of the damage.

Image by Professor Bop via Flickr I saw this little ditty, and found it quite well written.
We have taller buildings but shorter tempers; wider freeways but narrower viewpoints; we spend more but have less; we buy more but enjoy it less; we have bigger houses and smaller families; more conveniences, yet less time; we have more degrees but less sense; more knowledge but less judgement; more experts, yet more problems; we have more gadgets but less satisfaction; more medicine, yet less wellness; we take more vitamins but see fewer results. We drink too much; smoke too much; spend too recklessly; laugh too little; drive too fast; get too angry quickly; stay up too late; get up too tired; read too seldom; watch TV too much and pray too seldom.
We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values; we fly in faster planes to arrive there quicker, to do less and return sooner; we sign more contracts only to realize fewer profits; we talk too much; love too seldom and lie too often. We’ve learned how to make a living, but not a life; we’ve added years to life, not life to years. We’ve been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet the new neighbor. We’ve conquered outer space, but not inner space; we’ve done larger things, but not better things; we’ve cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul; we’ve split the atom, but not our prejudice; we write more, but learn less; plan more, but accomplish less; we make faster planes, but longer lines; we learned to rush, but not to wait; we have more weapons, but less peace; higher incomes, but lower morals; more parties, but less fun; more food, but less appeasement; more acquaintances, but fewer friends; more effort, but less success. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but have less communication; drive smaller cars that have bigger problems; build larger factories that produce less. We’ve become long on quantity, but short on quality.
These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion; tall men, but short character; steep in profits, but shallow relationships. These are times of world peace, but domestic warfare; more leisure and less fun; higher postage, but slower mail; more kinds of food, but less nutrition. These are days of two incomes, but more divorces; these are times of fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, cartridge living, throw-away morality, one-night stands, overweight bodies and pills that do everything from cheer, to prevent, quiet or kill. It is a time when there is much in the show window and nothing in the stock room. Indeed, these are the times!
Then I read the story behind it, on Snopes. Since I discovered it was once a chain email, that led me to discover Breakthechain.org.
That’s why I love the internet! A different path every day!
