Jet fuel is complicated

If jet fuel distribution is this complicated, one can only imagine how complex a web gas and diesel fuel distribution is.

Bigger jets such as Air Canada’s new Boeing 777s are even thirstier machines. Flying from Toronto to Narita in Japan, for example, requires roughly 120,000 litres of fuel, with a price tag closer to about $144,000.

The Debunking Directory

An illustration of the World Trade Center 9-11...Image via Wikipedia

As 9/11 comes and goes, the date in 2001 slowly fades.  As memories fades, the conspiracy theories seem to increase.  Even I start believing when I hear Jesse Ventura.  Sites like Debunking usually bring me back to reality.

This website’s mission is to serve as a one-stop shop for all of the resources needed to debunk conspiracy theories relating to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. The Directory consists of hundreds of 9/11 conspiracy debunking items that are chronicled on the day in which they were published/released.

Dems and Repubs

Image via Wikipedia

I was talking to a friend of mine’s little girl the other day. I asked her what she wanted to be when she grew up and she replied, “I want to be president!” Both of her parents are liberal Democrats and were standing there. So then I asked her, “If you were President what would be the first thing you would do?” She replied, “I’d give houses to all the homeless people.” “Wow – what a worthy goal.” I told her, “You don’t have to wait until you’re President to do that. You can come over to my house and mow, pull weeds, and sweep my yard, and I’ll pay you $50. Then I’ll take you over to the grocery store where this homeless guy hangs out, and you can give him the $50 to use toward a new house.”

Since she is only 6, she thought that over for a few seconds. While her Mom glared at me, she looked me straight in the eye and asked, “Why doesn’t the homeless guy come over and do the work, and you can just pay him the $50?”

And I said, “Welcome to the Republican Party.”

Her folks still aren’t talking to me.

Bill trying to connect

Chairman Bill is using Jerry Seinfeld to try and connect with real people using Windows Vista.  Sad to say, the ads aren’t working for me.

On a side note, Bill Gates is aging well.  Better than Steve Jobs, anyway.

Inside or outside job aside, the size and scope of the 9/11 attacks was unprecedented. Pretty much everything that has happened (negatively) in the world for the last seven years is directly related to this day in history.

Update: Another impressive slideshow on 9/11.

The end of the road

General Motors CorporationImage via Wikipedia

My most popular post, below, seems to have come full circle, now that it appears that GM is settling here in Canada.  The phone number is 1-866-640-9989,  and the website is gmcanadiansettlement.ca

General Motors has settled a class-action lawsuit with Canadian motorists over claims about defective gaskets that could damage engines.

That old post:

I’m compelled to post this, as I find it is a serious problem and I want a record here and on the web of my problem.

Dion’s truck tax

Diesel smoke from a big truckImage via Wikipedia

Keep talking carbon tax Dion.  For now, let’s just call it a diesel tax – and who will it whack the most?  Truck owner/operators.  Whether they will be able to pass the costs on the their customers is another story, but we know they will be hit hard.  This is just the beginning of Dion’s carbon tax wet dreams.  Thank goodness he has no chance of winning.

Suddenly, the 7¢ tax means more like a $6,000 yearly hit to the bottom line of Canadian truckers. That doesn’t account, of course, for extra costs they’ll pass on to consumers — unless we hurry up and figure out a way to “use less diesel and so on.”

Kevin Libin: Someone needs to tell Dion the truth about diesel – Full Comment.
