Seeya Air Farce

I always liked the radio version of the Air Farce, especially with Dave Broadfoot.  His Sgt. Renfrew was killer.   Apparently Friday is the last show for the TV program – I guess the radio show is long gone.  Roger Abbott laments.

How about that global warming?

The geographic distribution of surface warming...

It’s no surprise that the top story at the NP Full comment section is the one basically debunking global warming.

Strange how all the talk about bike lanes and fossil fuels go away when we’re all freezing in the middle of winter, which lasts approximately 6 months here in Canada?

Still, the number of climate change skeptics is growing rapidly. Because a funny thing is happening to global temperatures — they’re going down, not up.

The web via Iphone

Safari
Image via Wikipedia

If you do a lot of Iphone surfing the general web, you need this tip for all those sites that don’t have iphone specific pages.  Let’s hope 2009 brings more iphone friendly sites.  Rightonblog.com is such a site.  I wish all wordpress bloggers would make their sites iphone friendly.

Mobile Safari on the iPhone does an amazing job displaying web pages. However, I find that in the context of viewing some web pages on the go, that this view isn’t necessarily the best way to read some pages. For example, even though the iPhone interface is awesome, I don’t really want to waste time zooming and messing with a page to read the actual content. I’d rather just load up a page, read my content, and move on. (Of course, the best solution would be if web designers designed alternate “iPhone-optimized” views that would look great on the iPhone, but only a few mainstream sites do this as of the time of this post.)

Why I rent

Another reason to stay home and watch DVDs.  Personally, I use zip.ca.

A South Philadelphia man enraged because a father and son were talking during a Christmas showing of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button took care of the situation when he pulled a .380-caliber gun and shot the father, police said.

‘We are all terrified’

Zimbabwe Dictator Robert Mugabe

More sadness from the plains of hell.

This letter was written to a friend by a resident of Zimbabwe, where cholera, economic collapse and the despotic rule of President Robert Mugabe has reduced the country to a state of chaos. The identity of the author is being kept confidential.

Revenge of the mice

This story is so ironic that it could be a cartoon.

The $250,000 fire is still under investigation by the Ontario Fire Marshal’s office, but shelter manager Ruby Richards said preliminary reports indicate it started in the ceiling and may – a sad irony for the cats – have been sparked by mice chewing through electrical wires.

Don`t spit, swallow

Quite possibly the best study ever.  I feel it needs some more local research…please sign me up.

Women who perform the act of fellatio and swallow semen on a regular basis, one to two times a week, may reduce their risk of breast cancer by up to 40 percent, a North Carolina State University study found.

Welcome to hell

Cholera

The best thing Bush could do on his way out is to get rid of this guy.  People would rejoice.

Just when it seemed every possible misery had befallen Zimbabwe, a fresh horror has broken out: Cholera.

This is as close to a man-made plague as the world is likely to see.

Traffic info

Drive By: Summer Road Construction

I am in traffic all day, so what could be better than a traffic blog with traffic info.

Drivers seated higher think they are driving more slowly than drivers seated lower, and so tend to speed more often.

Anywhere from 10% to more than 70% of people in urban traffic are simply looking for parking.

More than 80% of traffic in a typical city runs on 10% of the roads.

If you believe in an eye for an eye, which I usually do, then this case takes it literally.

An Iranian woman, blinded by a jilted stalker who threw acid in her face, has persuaded a court to sentence him to be blinded with acid himself under Islamic law demanding an eye for an eye.

Get – out – now

Until the government is willing to get some proper equipment, Canada should either hole-up in their camp or leave.  These boys aren’t even going down fighting.  The whole mission is reverting into farcical proportions, and it’s losing my support quickly.  A professional army simply isn’t the right force to fight a guerilla war.  Let’s simply send arms over to our version of freedom fighters, and keep our young boys home.

Three Canadian soldiers were killed by an improvised explosive device on Saturday morning. They were killed in an area west of Kandahar City.
